Key Features of Compostable Molded Pulp Packaging with Laminated Liner

 1.Biobased and Renewable

Typically crafted from rapidly renewable resources such as wood, bamboo, bagasse, and recycled paper. This reduces reliance on fossil fuels.

2.Excellent Cushioning and Protection

The fibrous structure naturally absorbs shock and provides a custom-molded fit for the product, protecting against impacts during shipping and handling.

3.Biodegradable and Compostable

In a controlled composting environment, the pulp decomposes into water, carbon dioxide, and biomass (compost) within 180 days, leaving no toxic residues. It is usually certified to standards including ASTM D6400, EN 13432, and OK Compost HOME.

4.Barrier Properties

It delivers reliable resistance to grease, oil, water, and moisture, along with effective oxygen and aroma barrier performance. This prevents leakage from oily foods and pastries, while its optimal oxygen transmission rate (OTR) helps extend the shelf life of fresh produce and baked goods.

5.Sealability

The film liner enables heat-sealing, creating a clean, secure, and tamper-evident closure for food containers— a significant advantage over unlined pulp packaging.

6.Strength and Rigidity

The pulp base served as the structural “skeleton,” making the package stackable and durable, while the thin liner provides the functional barrier protection.

7.Free from Harmful Chemicals

All our pulp products are 100% free of PFAS and BPA, odorless and non-toxic, fully complying with FDA standards.

8.Microwave-safe and OvenSafe

After applying the coating liner, the product can withstand a high temperature of 220°C and a low temperature of -40℃.

PFAS Free 100% Biodegradable Compostable 10"Round Party Plates

PFAS Free 100% Biodegradable Compostable 10"Round Party Plates

1. Is molded pulp food packaging safe for direct contact with food?
Sure. All our molded pulp food packaging is made from food-grade raw materials (such as sugarcane bagasse, bamboo pulp, and recycled food-grade paper) and complies with strict international standards including FDA 21 CFR, EU EN 13432, and ASTM D6400. It is 100% free of harmful chemicals like PFAS, BPA, and phthalates, ensuring no toxic substances leach into food even when exposed to heat or oil.
2. Can molded pulp containers be used in microwaves and ovens?
It depends on the specific product type. Our coated molded pulp packaging (applied with food-grade laminated film liners) can withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -40℃ to 220℃, making it safe for both microwave heating and oven use. However, unlaminated pure pulp containers are recommended for cold or room-temperature food only, as they may absorb moisture or deform at high temperatures. Send an inquiry for temperature guidance.
3. How biodegradable and compostable is molded pulp packaging?
Molded pulp is one of the most eco-friendly packaging materials available. In a controlled industrial composting environment, it fully decomposes into water, carbon dioxide, and nutrient-rich biomass within 180 days, leaving no toxic residues. Our certified products meet ASTM D6400 (U.S.) and EN 13432 (EU) standards, and some are even OK Compost HOME certified—meaning they can decompose in home compost piles within 3–6 months.
4. Does molded pulp packaging have good oil and water resistance?
Yes, especially for our upgraded products with laminated liners. The food-grade coated liner provides excellent barrier properties against grease, oil, water, and moisture, effectively preventing leakage from oily foods (e.g., fried chicken, pizza) and wet foods (e.g., salads, soups). For unlaminated pulp, it has basic water resistance but is more suitable for dry food items like bread or snacks.
5. Can molded pulp packaging be customized for specific food products?
Yes. Molded pulp’s inherent moldability allows for high customization. We can tailor the shape, size, thickness, and barrier properties to match your specific food items—whether it’s a delicate pastry tray, a sturdy takeout box, or a shockproof container for fresh produce. Custom printing (e.g., brand logos, nutrition labels) is also available to enhance brand recognition.
6. Is molded pulp packaging more expensive than plastic or foam alternatives?
While the initial cost may be slightly higher than traditional plastic, molded pulp offers long-term value. It helps brands meet global sustainability regulations (avoiding plastic bans and fines), reduces carbon footprints, and caters to consumer demand for eco-friendly products—boosting brand loyalty. With large-volume orders, our production scale enables competitive pricing that narrows the cost gap.
7. Can molded pulp packaging be recycled or reused?
Yes. Most molded pulp products are recyclable in standard paper recycling streams. Additionally, they can be reused multiple times for storing dry goods, organizing small items, or as plant pots (for home gardening) before being composted. This multi-life cycle further enhances their environmental benefits.
8. How does molded pulp packaging perform in shipping and storage?
Its fibrous structure provides natural cushioning and shock absorption, protecting food products from impacts during transportation. The rigid pulp base also makes the packaging stackable, saving storage space and reducing shipping damage. Compared to foam packaging, it is lighter (lower shipping costs) and more sustainable.
9. Is it possible to put my branding on the container?
Absolutely yes—branding customization is a core service we offer for molded pulp containers, designed to help enhance your brand visibility and recognition. We support multiple branding methods tailored to your needs and product characteristics, including: Screen Printing: Ideal for clear, durable logos, slogans, or contact information. It adheres well to the pulp surface and maintains quality even with light moisture contact. Embossing/Debossing: A tactile branding option that creates raised (embossed) or recessed (debossed) logos on the container. This adds a premium, professional touch without relying on inks.
